"Lines to Burn in a Victim's Mind, Rooms 10 & 13" is a series of drawings based on enlarged wallpaper designs.
While drawing them, I was thinking about my attraction to old wallpaper, and decided it was ultimately rooted in what it becomes witness to. I thought, in the case of a motel room, where life is transitory and anonymous, wallpaper is chosen to offend least rather than please most. Often, the wallpaper isn't changed for decades, and so the style looses effect. The "victim" in the the title refers to any person in a motel room whose mind sinks through a lonesome moment as the contours of the wallpaper pattern are traced visually over and over again. |

| Each drawing was made by folding a piece of paper, drawing and cutting out a design, and then tracing that cut-out onto another piece of paper.
What is shown here is an example of how each drawing looked right after the stencil had been traced. |
