Salt has always been an interesting material to me, because of its cultural, chemical, and physical qualities. I built this saltcellar as part of a public exhibition of art relating to food. Because sharing salt has, for many centuries, been a symbol of fellowship, I put this in an area where people would sit and talk or rendezvous with with friends.
