| "Song for a Building" was an installation in the McClung Warehouses in downtown Knoxville. Although the buildings are not completely empty, this particular one did not have power. The project involved acquiring and assembling several halogen worklights, running extension cords, renting a generator, and going up and down a lot of stairs.
I chose these buildings because of their exposure across a train yard. They sit dark at night, and because a lot of my sculpture is about making forms to light from within, I thought it would be interesting to light a preexisting form. I could not have done this project without the help of Mark Saroff, Jimmy MacLeod, and Terry. |
