The focus of this new construction office building was to serve the creative community of Nashville, compliment the view from the adjacent Finery Residential building, and demonstrate the sustainable aspects of being LEED Gold. The client wanted the main lobby to have flexibility for hanging and lighting future art, so aimable pendants were hung amongst a grid of hooks in the ceiling. The pendant cord lengths are maximized and coiled so that a variety of heights can be used for playfulness, as well. The feature stair surfaces are not punctured with recessed lights so that the vibrance of the red color sings. Instead, a single thin-profile, high-performance light fixture was mounted to the wall.
On the outside, any fixtures that were not full-cutoff turn off at midnight, so that light pollution is reduced. Meanwhile, downward aimed fixtures stay on, illuminating public murals and private terraces.
