This project was a renovation of one of Michigan State University’s campus dining halls. The hall features a main level with the servery and dining space, plus two upper levels for additional dining. All three dining rooms are open to each other, and a direct line of site through all three can be seen from the main level as you leave the servery.
The goal of the project was to update the dining rooms and servery spaces with lighting, furniture, and décor that contributed to a historic European aesthetic while reducing energy consumption. The lighting team I was on came up with the concept “finding focus” which emphasized views through the space as tool for students to choose which of the three dining rooms they would use.
